James L. Manniso is a Navy Veteran who served as a radar man on a destroyer escort in the early 1950’s. Then, in the mid-1950’s, Jim was a Philadelphia Firefighter. Now, an electrical engineer turned poet, Jim writes poems from his heart, soul, and mind.
Jim states:“The Vietnam War was fought by American men and women of various religious, ethnic, and racial heritages. These representatives of America’s Armed Forces served, as did other veterans before them, with pride.
This commemorative painting and poem is a tribute to those who answered their country’s call to service in Vietnam, and speaks to the pride of that service; a pride that at one time was merely thought, then whispered, and now shouted, for “Proudly They Served.” |
